Choosing the best piano teacher for your child or yourself is an important decision. You want it to be a great musical experience. Your teacher should be extremely patient and encouraging. A good piano instructor will create a supportive, easy-going learning environment.

The Lessons Should Be Fun • • • 
You want to be relaxed and feel at home. The teacher should be highly trained and experienced piano instructor should provide beginner piano or keyboard lessons to students of any age. Private, individual lessons provide the quickest learning experience. My students range in age from 4 years old, well up into the ’70’s or ’80’s. Learn Classical, Pop, Blues, Jazz and more. Years of working with many students playing piano, gives a piano teacher the experience to help students succeed, be motivated, and thoroughly enjoy themselves. Learning how to play piano or keyboard is an exciting undertaking and provides a lifetime of enjoyment.

Children who do not have an enjoyable experience will often not continue lessons. If lessons are not fun and inspiring, they will lose interest, and the opportunity for them to have music in their lives, may be lost forever. My piano lessons are fun, yet challenging. Kids learn to read music, play by ear, do improvisation, accompany voice, and best of all, to compose and record music. This is an amazingly useful tool to help students understand rhythms and visualize how music is structured. This is way more fun than school.

Adults • • • 
Adults don’t need another thing to worry or feel pressured about. I understand that your schedule may sometimes interfere with you practicing piano at home. Learning to play piano is usually a long term project, and so it’s best to look at progress over a period of months, rather than week-to-week. You can relax about the lessons and have a good time.
